Rang 5 & 6 Turas Scoile 2021

6th Jul 2021

On Thursday, June 17th, Rang a Cúig is a Sé thoroughly enjoyed a more local school tour this year.

The trip began with a short journey down the road to the River Suir, at Balliinahinch, where the children carried out sampling tests to check the quality of water in the river and also identified various river invertebrates with Louisa Garcia, a biology educationalist. This work was part of the River Suir Project - School Outreach Programme. Many thanks to Maura Ryan and Martin Kavanagh for allowing us access the River Suir via their lovely farm. Míle buíochas also to Aoife Egan, River Suir Project Coordinator, for inviting us to take part in this wonderful project. We learned lots and had great fun - and all in our own parish.
The tour then continued onto Cashel where the children were given a guided tour of the Rock of Cashel by none other than our Principal, Ms O' Dwyer, who used her wealth of local and historical knowledge to great effect. The children really enjoyed this and learned a lot. Rolling down the grass proved most popular too as did their outdoor picnic under the Rock.
The tour concluded with a surprise detour to McDonald's where the children were treated to an ice cream before they returned to Scoil Mhuire. The children described this year's tour as 'the best one yet'.
