Scoil Mhuire Knockavilla / Knockavilla National School, Tipperary

A Letter from the Principal

22nd Oct 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As we draw nearer to Halloween and the mid-term break I and the staff here in Scoil Mhuire want to wish you all a happy and safe week at home with your families.

I am sure you are all aware that we have, since today, entered Level 5 of the Government’s five-tiered framework for living with Covid 19. These restrictions have been introduced in an effort to stem the spread of Covid and to keep all of us and our dear ones, friends and neighbours safe.

The new restrictions allow the schools to remain open. We hope that we continue to remain open but this does depend on everyone co-operating to keep the level of Covid down in the entire community.

The BOM asks all parents/guardians and carers to please follow all the Covid rules regarding physical distancing while bringing your children to and taking your children home from school. The BOM also requests parents/guardians/carers to wear a face mask at these times and to ensure that they supervise their children before and after their children enter and exit the school grounds at the allotted times.

Thank you all for your co-operation in the smooth running of the school over the past two months. It has required a great deal of planning and effort from all members of the school staff but it has been worth it. All of our pupils are doing a wonderful job! They have become ‘expert’ sanitisers and are doing their best to make school as safe as possible in these times of a dangerous pandemic. They are happy in school and are making great progress in their learning.

As the Irish saying goes - ‘Is fearr an tsláinte ná na táinte’, health is better than wealth! We have been relatively lucky in this community so far. May we continue to be so.

Keep up the excellent work and enjoy a spooky Oíche Shamhna!

Mise le meas,

Eleanor Ni Dhuibhir
