School Ethos

Scoil Náisiúnta Mhuire, Cnoc a’ Bhile is a Catholic school established in connection with the Minister for Education and under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Cashel and Emly, from whom its Board of Management derives its authority.

The Board of Management, in partnership with the teaching staff, aims at promoting the full and harmonious development of all aspects of the person of the pupil: Intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual, including a living relationship with God and with other people. The school models and promotes a philosophy of life inspired by belief in God and in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Catholic school provides Religious education for the pupils in accordance with the doctrines, practices and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church and fosters the formation of pupils in the Catholic Faith.

Knockavilla National School, while promoting Christian values, respects the diversity of beliefs that may obtain within the parent and student body and encourages tolerance and respect for all.

Accordingly, a programme of prayer, self-discipline and Christian morality will be promoted within the school and the children will receive equality of treatment and opportunity at all times.

May God bless the children, their parents
and the staff who work here.
