Christmas Art Activities in 4th Class

21st Dec 2020

We enjoyed lots of very special art activities in the last few weeks, and the children really showed off their creative skills.

We got into the mood for The Late Late Toy Show by designing some very stylish Christmas jumpers for Ryan Tubridy.

Each pupil created two very beautiful stained glass effect decorations using a combination of paint and PVA glue. They took quite a while as they had to be done in small steps to allow each stage to dry, but the ‘wow’ factor was very evident when we completed them.  We look forward to displaying them on a sunny window in our homes this Christmas.

As we had been looking at the idea of tesselation in maths, the pupils each coloured a Christmas tree and then we put them together to create a group Christmas tree for our classroom door, to illustrate the concept.

The pupils used pastels on black sugar paper to create our ‘Christmas Tree in the Window’ scenes.

We put out two bird feeders to the rear of the school, one containing nyger seed and the other containing peanuts.  We have really enjoyed seeing a variety of birds, including blue tits and goldfinches coming to feed there.  In fact, we are having trouble keeping the feeders full.  Linking with this, we used paper and paint to create our winter themed bird houses. We are thrilled with how these have turned out and they are really a lovely focal point in our classroom.

Well done to all the pupils in 4th Class who took part in the Concern Christmas Fast, and raised some much needed funds for this very worthy cause.  Well done also for contributing so generously to the Christmas Jumper Day on December 18th.  We really got into the festive mood on this occasion and the children recorded their Christmas performances also.

The pupils enjoyed a bonus basketball session on Friday December 18th as their reward for reaching 1000 ClassDojo points.  Maith sibh rang a ceathair!
