October i Seomra a Dó

25th Oct 2019

As autumn showed it’s wonderful array of colour we gathered berries, leaves and much more for our Bord Dúlra. We celebrated the leaves turning with paint, mixing colours to reflect the beauty around us, made impressionistic  autumn trees with coloured paper and used our leaves to create chalk sketches. We sang songs and learned about the ‘iora rua’ and the ‘gráinneog’ and even made our own squirrels.

We’ve learned lots about numbers using camels, counters and sorting boxes. We went on a math’s trail, completed maths puzzles and worked together on maths computer games.

Nature study and scientific studies were to the fore for this month with a ‘Welly Walk’ and daffodil planting, as we investigated the conditions seeds need to grow. As we come up to the holidays we have even cast some spells and made a magic potion.

We have used our imaginations for guided meditation. Also, we have mimed being robots and  we have worked hard to achieve our Seatbelt Sheriff certificates. We welcomed Ms Slattery to our room, and we are enjoying her energetic and enthusiastic contributions to our days.

Bhí an-spórt againn ag foghlaim faoin bhFómhar agus na hainmithe sa choill. Bhí scéalta álainn againn faoi Ghráinne Gráinneog.  Comh maith le sin, bhaineamar taitneamh as an ‘Haka’ a dhéanamh i rith 'Corn an Domhain'.

In preparation for Hallowe’en we learned what fire safety hazards to look out for and have enjoyed lots of Hallowe’en songs, stories and puzzles. Have a ‘spooktacular’ mid-term, see you all in November.
