Presentation to Rua Winner in the Tipperary Co Council Christmas Decoration Competition

21st Dec 2019

There was great excitement in Scoil Mhuire on December 17th when the Chairperson of Tipperary Co Council, Michael Fitzgerald MCC, visited the school to present Third Class pupil, Rua Astwood, with his first prize (Cashel-Tipperary electoral area) in the Co Council Christmas Decoration Competition.

Councillor Fitzgerald was accompanied by Anne Marie Clifford from the Environment Section of the Co Council. She praised all the pupils from Scoil Mhuire who took part in the competition for their inventiveness and their ability to recycle materials into lovely decorations. She paid particular credit to Ms Healy, whose class were most enthusiastic participants. Rua and his mother, Susan, were very proud of his success.

Rua's winning entry is on display in the Co Council offices in Clonmel. The other entries from Scoil Mhuire are on display in the Co Council offices in Tipperary Town.

Following the presentation, the Co Council Chairperson visited the Junior and Senior Infant Classes in the school hall. They, together with Rang a hAon and their teachers, were very busy rehearsing for their Christmas plays. Councillor Fitzgerald was very impressed with their acting and musical ability and paid tribute to their hard working and talented teachers.
