Put out a flag for our Frontline Hereos

31st Mar 2020

We are all very proud of the wonderful work being done by our frontline workers during this time. These are the people who through their work are helping us to stay safe and healthy - members of our families, friends and neighbours.

The Irish National Teachers' Association and all the other teaching organisations in Ireland are proposing that as a show of support for these workers and volunteers on front lines, all children and households who have a flag in their county, club or national colours would hang that flag from their gate posts, windows or wherever they would normally place a flag when supporting their county, club or country ahead of an important match.

This show of solidarity from the children of the country towards those on the front line, will demonstrate our appreciation of their marvellous dedication to their critical work at this extraordinary time. Hanging out the flags can also provide colour to lift everybody at a time people are feeling the effects of these strange times.

The INTO, ASTI, TUI, IPPN and NAPD are asking all schools/colleges and sports organisations to support the initiative and to use their communication platforms to share this information with members.

We hope that in the coming days, with your help, every road, street, lane, avenue, estate and apartment complex will be festooned with colour to honour our heroes - our families neighbours and friends in the frontline services.

The pupils and staff of Scoil Mhuire have always been very enthusiastic when it comes to decorating our school to support our teams. Now let's make a huge effort to decorate our homes to show our support for a fantastic team - a team which is saving lives and making our country safe for all of us!
