School Hurling League 2022

8th Jul 2022

We were all delighted to see the return of the KNS Hurling League where pupils from 3rd to 6th are mixed into teams to compete for the title of League Champions.  This year saw Tipperary, Waterford, Cork and Limerick battle it out in some really thrilling encounters over the course of the final few weeks of the year.  The matches took place during lunch break and all pupils and staff were gripped by hurling fever.  Referee Mr Moran kept play running smoothly and was ably assisted by Joanne and several older pupils who took on the role of umpire. The skill and talent on display this year was phenomenal and the excitement, enthusiasm and general fair play from all the pupils made this year's league one of the best.

The final event at our school Sports Day saw Cork and Limerick battle it out in the Hurling League 2022 Final. It was a truly sporting match and much credit goes to both teams.  Cork finished their league campaign in style with a last goal to seal the win.  Both sets of players were presented with medals by Mrs Tierney.  Congratulations to all pupils from 3rd to 6th class for making this year’s league such a success and all credit to Mr Moran and Joanne for their time and work on this special event once again this year.  Also, congratulations to Sophie Blake and Rua Astwood who were awarded the 2022 Player of the Year trophies.
