Visit from members of Tipperary Senior Camogie team

25th Jun 2023

We were very excited to receive a visit from members of the Tipperary Senior Camogie team on Friday 23rd June.

Past pupil Caoimhe McCarthy, along with her club mate Eimear Heffernan, were guests of honour at our annual Sports Day. Ereena Fryday, who is on the team and is also a past pupil, was unable to join us on the day. The ladies brought the Morrissey Cup which they won following their defeat of Clare in the Munster Senior Camogie Final. This is the first title won by Tipperary Senior Camogie in 13 years and they sure pulled off a stylish win. Their 17 point winning margin confirming a brilliant all-round display from this group of ladies. The team has since acheived two further wins in the All Ireland group stages, defeating Dublin and, most recently, Wexford. They now go on to face Kilkenny and we hope they can keep their winning streak alive.

It is particularly special for us to celebrate the success of the Tipperary Senior Camogie panel this year, as our own Mr Moran is on the management team, working alongside manager Denis Kelly. Mr Moran complimented the ladies on their commitment to training and reminded our pupils that success like this starts when players are young - going to training, participating in the school league and building their strengths and abilities over time.

Caoimhe spoke to the pupils on the importance of listening to their coaches, both at school and at club level, and that the friends they will make through sport will be invaluable to them as they grow and develop as players.

We are so proud of the success of our own past pupils, club members, our staff member Mr Moran and the Tipperary Senior Camogie panel and management team. We wish them the very best of luck as they continue with the All Ireland series and hope to have them back with us again to celebrate further victories in the future.
