World Space Week in Room 2

14th Oct 2020

What an 'out of this world' week we've had in Senior Infants and First Class. We have learned so much about the Solar System we call home, the planets around our beautiful Earth, and tried to conceptualise our scale in the vast Universe.

Through song, raps, stories and adventures we have explored the life of Neil Armstrong, trained as austronauts, 'walked' on the Moon, repaired the International Space Station and learned the names of all the planets in our Solar System. A model of the planets hangs from the ceiling and we are soaking up the facts in a fun way. We watched video clips of a rocket launch and did a virtual tour of a space station all from the comfort of our classroom.

Our imagingations ran wild with writing, drawing, creating, listening to music and movement. The children completed fantastic space pictures with rockets, comets, planets, stars and even aliens! Some wrote a log of their Space adventures, while others chose to design their own spaceship. We even meditated our way to the moon and back.

Everyone got into the spirit of adventure, fun and learning. Well done to all the children in Room 2.
